Clef des Champs Medicinal Garden

Clef des Champs is a beautiful garden (organic certified) with 150 medicinal plants planted on terraces of a mountain in Val-David. Open for only 5 weeks in the the summer this garden has great views of the surrounding hills. Learn about the medicinal herbs with the informative signs which are available along the way, explaining about the health benefits of these plants. Our kids liked the witch garden with the toxic plants. We spent about an hour there, including the playground, headed for lunch in Val-David and continued on a short bicycle ride on the Petit Train du Nord which is located nearby.

Opening time: July 13th to August 18th, from 10am to 6pm

Entry fee: Guided tour at 10:30 every morning: $13.50. Self-guided tour is available from 10am to 5pm: $9, Children 12 and under go free.

The boutique at the entry offers products from the garden such as organic tea, and liquid extracts.

There are few resting areas in the garden with great views.

Le jardin des sorcières is a small garden dedicated to toxic plants.

Next to the boutique (acceuil) there is a kids’ playground and a hen house and opposite to it, some picnic tables.

We then continued to the famous Petit Train du Nord. The Parc Linéaire Le P’tit Train du Nord is a multi-use recreational rail trail designed along an old railroad between Bois-des-Filion and Mont-Laurier with a total of 232km long. It is mainly used as bicycle trail as it is mostly flat and easy to ride. We parked the car on the road intersection of rue de la sapinière and rue de l’église in Val-David.
