Verger Champêtre & Potager Gauvin

Rain or Shine, it’s outdoor time. We spent about 3 hours in this wonderful orchard in heavy rain and we loved it. Verger Champetre is offering lots of activities for kids: petting farm, animals (alpacas, ponies, sheep, gooses, deer), playground, shop, an interpretive loop trail and pick your own fruits & veggies (cherries, apples, prunes, pears, pumpkins and even garlic!). Unfortunately, the latter we could not do as the cherry season was over and the apple season did not start yet.

Champetre Orchard – English

Park and head to the boutique to pay the entry fee. The boutique is selling freshly made delicacies from the orchard with other wool/alpaca products. You can find a super nice playground next to the entry.

The starting point for the walk (between 1.6-2.5km) starts at the playground. The walk will take you through fields of apples, vegetables and different animals enclosures. The trail has 25 stops with picnic tables and information signs about the animals and vegetation at the orchard.

The trail is super easy to walk on flat gravel. Although it is a simple walk, the indications were not too clear. I took a photo of the orchard before starting which helped us to keep up on our whereabouts. Along the way, we met alpacas, ponies, deer, sheep and gooses. There is a small pond with trout fish.

Once we completed the trail, the sun came out 🙂 We decided to head for a nearby vegetable garden – Potager Gauvin, on our way back to Montreal.

This small garden offers “pick your own” blueberries and raspberries. It has a small open garden and a few greenhouses. At the shop, you will receive the basket to collect the fruits. The shop sells other fresh veggies from local produce.
