Last September we headed for the Beer Festival at Mont Orford. I always try to collect regional tourism brochures everywhere I go and I found out about this fantastic beer festival this way. I am not 100% sure but I believe this is the second year this festival is taking place. Many Quebec microbreweries participated in this festival to present their beers along with local food stands and brasseries. The festival was taking place on the weekend of 15-17 of September 2017.
Each day of the festival had a program with different activities, DJ, inflatables for kids and play area, shows etc.

The festival took place near the main building at the base of Mont Orford, where you will find the ticket booth. We decided first to head up the mountain on the cable car as we arrived before noon and we were energetic. The cable car is offering either a closed cabin or open chair. Once on top we decided to hike the panoramic trail. It is an easy walk with fantastic views of the beautiful Eastern Townships with its lakes and mountain range. The panoramic walk (follow the signs along the way) has few wooden bridges to reach these viewpoints. We left the stroller at the beginning of each wooden bridge and returned to take it once we visited the viewpoints. Please note that there are stairs along the wooden parts. If you stick to the panoramic trail, there is not much elevation gain as it is just surrounding the mountain summit. There are many other trails to climb up or to go down the mountain but for us as a young family it was just perfect. We had a nice picnic on top and returned to the festival at the base.
We enjoyed the festival, tasting different beers from the region (beer/cider tasting between 1 to three jeton chips per tasting), listening to music, dancing while the kids were at the kids’ area jumping on the inflatables. General atmosphere and energy were just perfect along with the sunny day. I am hopeful that next year the festival will take place. We will definitely be there!
